29 May Poetic Crossroads (EncruZilhadas Poéticas)
EncruZilhadas Poéticas is a space of intersections and intersections about the production of artists, the realization of their projects and the dialogue with possible interlocutors.
Its main objective is to establish a web of meanings and affections between poetic creations, namely: articles, essays, images, books, videos, research, performative actions, poetry, academic texts, reviews, among others.
The idea of a crossroads as a place for exchanging experiences is already designed by its ambiguous nature and configuration, therefore, the starting point of a route when the flow of a choice starts, and the end of a road that ends up joining another path. – a characteristic of contemporary art and thought.
This space for poetic exchanges will be inaugurated presenting a catalog and cartographic work of the 15 years of existence of a Brazilian contemporary dance company Ana Vitória Dança Contemporânea with – A precise outline of the dance – edited and released by Editora 7Letras (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in 2010 with the financial support of Companhia de Energia Elétrica Light through the Law of Incentive to Culture – Lei Rouanet.
This book had a circulation of 1000 copies, 25% of which were donated to libraries of dance colleges and schools in Brazil, Cultural Centers, academies and some performing art companies that after the author’s contacts were interested in receiving them for their files. However, with this distribution, even on sale in a few bookstores that have their own space on their shelves for Dance or Performing Arts books, it did not reach its desired audience.
This is the purpose of inaugurating a space with a greater objective: to give more visibility to works/productions that are built with a lot of effort, financial resources, hours of dedication and many engaged people and little is known or has access to them.
In this journey that begins here, we present a small sample of this book that will soon be reconfigured in an e-book format so that more people can access it and redistribute it more quickly and lightly. It will be, therefore, through this infinite network that is woven in the field of arts and corporeality, that these communications will present themselves, in the measure, in the time and space of their need to communicate.
The notion of crossroads here also leads us to another important concept for thinking about the possibilities, relationships, and (mis)encounters between the invisible and visible worlds, which is the confluence. Confluence, based on the elements of nature, teaches us that things come together but do not mix. Therefore, thinking about the poetic crossroads here is to reflect on the sensitive connections that are making themselves present and how much they affect us.
Ana Vitória Dança Contemporânea – A precise dance tracing starts from the record of the practical and daily experience of dance studios, stages, art galleries and national and international tours to give greater visibility to the trajectory of a creator, her collaborating artists and technicians who built these first 15 years of existence and aesthetic project.
More than a book of photographs, here archive and repertoire intertwine in a poetics that intends to be ethics and aesthetics according to a unique way of making art. In this sense, a trajectory is outlined and revealing how an aesthetic project matures in time and space of a lifetime, transforming itself with each new encounter and poetic-performative action.
It thus consists of a timeline that covers a significant part of a professional path, triggering memory by recovering its images, spaces of establishments, bodies and gestures, its lights and what is invisible is installed, such as its drive, music, technicians, rehearsers, partners, supporters, playwrights and conceptual and philosophical interlocutors.
This cartographic record could not fail to contemplate those who make these works the reason for their existence, their audience! And in not being able to name them in such a short space, voices were summoned from some interlocutors who were seated in front of these performances to briefly write about this enjoyment.
Artists, costume designers, critics, poets, philosophers, scientists, educators and lovers of artistic performances here seek to capture in words the affections of the sensory states to which their bodies were affected – at the time of these meetings – and were protected.
